What kind of blankets?

Any kind of blanket – store-bought, handmade, baby, quilt – as long as it’s brand new.

Why do the blankets have to be new?

Everybody deserves a new blanket, don’t you think?

Can I donate money?

We’d rather you didn’t. We’d rather you use that money to buy new blankets and ship or bring them to us.

How long will my blanket’s journey be?

We are working to have your blanket delivered to someone in need in a couple of weeks. We could do it right away, but we want to ensure that the places we donate blankets are prepared to distribute them immediately.

Can I direct where my blanket goes? And can I find out precisely who received my blanket?

Nope – we appreciate how nice both options would be, but we’re not set up to do that. But by tracking your blanket’s journey, you can find out the organization or shelter that received your blanket.

What if my organization or shelter needs blankets?

Contact us immediately at donate@10000blankets.org.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

10,000 Blankets is recognized by the IRS as a 501-c-3 charitable organization, so your donations are potentially tax deductible. Use your blanket tag as your receipt and check with your tax professional.

Why 10,000?

It just seems like a good number, don’t you think?

What happens when you get to 10,000?

We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Who is 10,000 Blankets?

We’re a group of friends who are simply grateful for our good fortune and believe the best way to demonstrate our gratitude is to help out folks who are less fortunate.  We’re all members of other organizations, but 10,000 Blankets isn’t part of any other group.

Yeah, but who are you?

If you must know, the Board of Directors is Angel Leitner, Jeff Leitner, Patrick O’Connell, Nicole Plenge and Maria Nichols. But we couldn’t do this without Mike Obringer of NVISION/North American Corporation, Tim Hogan of Royal Order of Experience Design, web programming genius John Barnicle, design savant Brian Notz, accountant non-parallel David J. Brown, legal wizards Mark Mahoney and Angelo Loumbas, and the Loyola University PR team of Matt Kobussen, Eric Turner, Kathryn Murray, Rachel Treadway, Patricia O'Connor and Thy Nguyen.
